Yes, but a load of cement is more useful than a load of already-hardened concrete that you have to break apart just to take.

What in the world are you going to do with crushed concrete?

My guess would be erosion control along a waterway.

It was intentionally removed though so the homeowners policy may try and deny it. It would definitely be an interesting claim.

Would be covered if not intentional by the insured.

Also, people need to understand (not you) what insurance covers instead of expecting money through gofundme, but of course people will feel bad and donate, creating a windfall.

Appreciate the good deal on the equipment, baw. I wouldn't have been able to do that driveway job down in Florida without it.*

Strange contractors started coming by, measuring her driveway. Her son counted five of them.

So they noticed strange contractors on their property, taking measurements and never questioned why they were there or their intentions? I’m calling bullshite.

Typically when you steal shite, you look for items you can flip quickly and easily. Concrete is labor intensive whether it’s pouring or removing. There’s also no market for stolen driveways/concrete. Either they removed the wrong driveway on accident or the homeowner failed to pay for some work they had done involving a driveway. Either way, no one just decided they wanted to steal a driveway.

New info about this. Sounds like this was a consequence of an overpayment scam that progressed far enough with one contractor that they performed the removal portion of the driveway replacement project before realizing it.

The woman’s house was for sale attracting a scammer, I guess because sometimes the house will be vacant. The 3rd party scammer requested quotes for the project from multiple contractors and overpays by check hoping for the refund to arrive before the check bounces. It’s not clear if the scammer received any payments but a contractor definitely jumped the gun on this one.

Crushed concrete is very common. Used as road base, entry drives to construction sites, backfill, etc.. The amount of unused concrete that goes back to plants is a lot. A busy plant will accumulate 10-20 yards of concrete a day that has to be disposed of in time. Many concrete producers decided to monetize that by purchasing crushers and selling it. The old way was to pay someone else to crush it every few months and pay them to haul it off the property.

I suspect in this case, she hired a place and finish contractor to install her driveway and the contractor has been looking to get paid for a long time. Probably did it more out of a frick you instead of money. That driveway crushed would be worth less than $1000 on the construction market.
