You must be misunderstanding me. The jury will decide if he had reason to believe his life was in danger and if that danger was imminent. I agree that it matters what he believes, but it the jury will decide if that was reasonable and imminent.

In other words, if he thinks he was in danger, but a jury decides that it wasn't reasonable to consider that imminent, then he's fricked.
