Who goes sit down to eat inside a fast food restaurant?

When I’m with the kids I sometimes do. They used to play at the indoor play area.

Bag in box syrup pricing has soared the past 5 years.

McDonald's syrup costs are 1.5 cents per ounce, 4 cents per cup, penny for lid, Penney for the straw.

A 32oz soda approximate cost is 30 cents now, not including any rebate money.

When I was a kid (70s-EARLY 80s), my mom and dad would tell me at restaurants not to drink my Coke too fast because I wasn't getting another one. Not bec of health or caffeine issues. But because if you wanted a refill, it was the same prices as the original soda

This is because fountain drinks used to come in kegs and the cost per drink was way higher than the syrup bags they have today. With modern setups you'd have to drink something like 2 gallons of coke to get your money's worth.

In our area the price of a soft drink at McDonalds has increased almost 100% in the last 24 months. From $1 to $1.98. Circle K still has the best deal ever....48 ounces for .$79, the same price it was 15 years ago and it was the best deal in town even then....

It sometimes seems tempting to blame these fast food price increases on the minimum wage increases.

But this change seems like it would require McDonald’s to hire more employees if anything.

When I do go to McD I’m usually in the drive-thru line. So I don’t think that changes my habits with McD.

McDonalds food is so bad that they build lodging facilities for the parents of kids undergoing cancer treatment. Just don’t eat there and don’t let your kids and you will reduce your cancer risk immensely.

The plan for most operators in the Southeast is to do free refills, but it definitely won’t be self-serve anymore. Could move to having to pay for refills.

“It’s an evolution towards convenience and (the result of) the growth of digital service," huh? somebody please translate.

I've spent too much time in the corporate world, because this line sounded totally natural to me. It's just corporate shorthand

Allow me to translate. Customers aren't using the dining rooms much, so we are moving away from supporting that portion of the business. They are going to be implementing AI ordering systems and emphasize pre-order and pickup via mobile app. Self serve takes additional, money, staff resources and time to maintain, is used in small volumes compared to other parts of the business and is largely irrelevant for most visitors, so they are going to retire them and the expense that they represent.

a.k.a. We're going to do less and charge more.

Who the hell eats inside a McDonald's now except old men at 6 am and travelers passing through on a road trip because they couldn't find a Buccees?

Ate inside a McDonald's this morning because eating in your car is filthy.

2 sausage biscuits and a small drink. Refilled a couple times to maximize value of the smaller cup. Paid $4 total.

Had a human take my order and the food was to me within 90 seconds.

I can't imagine sucking down 32oz of a carbonated beverage, much less 2 of them
