Recently moved to Houston and I was thinking about an MBA. I know Tulane has one here, UH, UT, Rice, A&M, etc. I could never be an Aggie, can’t stand them. Anyways the MBA is a pretty penny $70k - $100k. I don’t think it makes sense to LSU MBA online considering the business schools in Texas are right here and as good or better.

I think if I did one here I’d need some financial incentives. Also saw ULL has an online MBA for a bargain price of $12K lol, but figure that is a bad idea unless I want to live in LA again. If I do one online probably needs to be an elite program like USC.

Gonna sound funny but look into LSU Shreveport. They have an MBA Online program. Coworker just completed it within 1 calendar year. Very cost effective

In my opinion MBAs are fairly worthless other than for the alumni network opportunities. So if you’re going to be a dumbass and shell out $100k for one than it had better be an elite school like Stanford. UT and Rice are the best bets in Texas, although I wouldn’t rule out A&M just because you don’t like their football team, especially if you’re in the engineering/oil and gas sector.

Get an MBA based on what you think you will learn from it. Not based on what you think the degree will be worth.

Spend the least amount of money possible. The days of employers giving 2 shits about your pedigree are over. Skills and experience are everything.

Get an MBA with healthcare administration or HR specialty and you’ll have a very nice career.

This right here is why we have a student debt crisis. The worth of the degree should absolutely be a part of the decision.

These "Graduate Programs" people pay for are a fricking scam.

True grad school is free with Stipend for research/teaching.

If an MBA is gonna be useful your employer should foot the bill, or at least most of it.

If you are actually looking to learn something do not do the professional program at LSU. It is nothing more than a pay for credential with a farce of learning in between

An MBA typically isn’t worth paying for on your own unless it’s from one of the top schools in the country.

If it will earn you a promotion have the company foot the bill.

This ^

I think it largely depends on the school and whether or not it is specialized.

Depends on where you go. At LSU, yes that is pretty much correct. McCombs at Texas is always flirting with being a top 15 school and can get you some really good jobs at 100k plus straight out. That's about the lowest tier school I'd go to.

You wouldn't pay 70k for a 30k signing bonus and median starting income of 115k?

Not very smart
