There’s that long stretch where it’s 65 on I-10 between Houston and Beaumont which makes me less impressed with the 75 mph spots

65 in all of alaska??

I see why everyone flies there

They only have a few highways that are almost entirely two lane outside of the cities. Not really conducive to high speed limits.

I do remember them having turnouts every 5 miles or so with a big sign saying "delay of 4 or more cars illegal." Pretty cool to keep from getting stuck behind a slow poke forever.

They can't drive to their state capital, have to go by air or boat.

Texas has a 10% limit on when you can be stopped. If you're doing 75 in a 70, nobody cares.

Also the vast majority of Ontario is 100 (60 mph) there's only tiny slivers near the Michigan border crossings that are 110 (70 mph) and it's not for very long stretches.

85 is too slow for Kuwait. They drive like fricking maniacs over there.

ETA: Great, smooth roads. Oil money will do that

I'm going 7 mph over on every interstate in Texas and yet to be pulled over for it. I cut back to 5 over on 130, I figure 90 is fast enough even though it is probably the least ticketed stretch in the state, never see DPS running radar on it, I can't even remember ever seeing someone pulled over on it and I travel it quite a bit. I10 out west they will pull you over for 10 over at times but always let 7 slide it seems.

Nice of Russia to set the speed limit at 80 where there are literally no roads.

max speed limit in the Midwest is 60 for the most part. Can you imagine how miserable driving around the countryside is there

It's actually 70-75 on interstates in most of the Midwest. Highways are 55 and its much better than driving in the countryside in Louisiana. People actually do the speed limit plus 5-10 over there, roads are well kept/wide/have a large shoulder, and they have lots of sections with a built in passing lane so you're not stuck behind assholes like the typical Louisiana driver. Driving here is miserable compared to the Midwest for the most part.
