If the pic above is accurate, there's no way he wasn't boozing. That's not "on the wagon" weight gain, that's bloated and pale skin/oxygen depleted look of a major boozer.

The guy is 52, overweight and just played 2 hours of pickle ball. He looks older than 52 to me but he looks like the average, out of shape older guy after getting 2 hours of exercise.

I am not trying to normalize it. The fatties have already done that.
He looks rough but not really different from a third of folks in that age bracket I see.

Meh. It’s not good but if he brushed his hair and threw on a decent outfit you wouldnt peg him as a disaster so much as just a middle aged guy that needs a workout schedule

It's not that he let himslef go, it's the fact that he probably suffered with chronic constipation as a result of his opiate abuse and was bloated as hell. I mean if he was taking 55 pills a day like they said, then that means his insides were destroyed, he couldn't go or anything, kinda like how Elvis was on the end. I mean opiate abuse is just the worse, if you don't OD it's somethin else that kills you.

I was just at the beach and a LOT of men look like that, who likely didn't always appear so slovenly and carrying twins around their midsection.

I’m surprised that snorting up drugs mixed with broken glass didn’t do more than frick up his nose.

This could be true. But what can we do?
This guy struggled to finally get sober and then had an accidental death in a hot tub. He was even playing pickleball the day he died.
Even if we manage to get sober and start playing sports to lose weight, are we still screwed?

His colon actually exploded from the severe constipation related to his opiate abuse. He nearly died, was in a coma for 2 months from it. Had to have multiple surgeries. So his health was already greatly affected by his years of substance abuse. Recently he was clean and trying to get healthier but damage already done. That’s a lot of strain to put on his heart.
