The Frat Boys are so easy to spot in this thread.
Never forget the time an entire Frat locked themselves in a bar (owner was a legacy) to avoid an arse whipping at the hands of my College Baseball team. Good times and the only memory I have of Frat Boys

Actually, per Louisiana law recently passed by the Louisiana legislature, consent is irrelevant and is not a defense to hazing charges.
New legislation also says if the hazing results in serious bodily injury, death, or if the hazing involves forced alcohol consumption that results in a blood alcohol level of at least .30, offenders will face a fine up to $10,000 and imprisonment up to five years.
The Louisiana Statehouse says frick your consent argument.

Negligent homicide is the killing of a human being by criminal negligence. LA Rev Stat § 14:32
Criminal negligence exists when, although neither specific nor general criminal intent is present, there is such disregard of the interest of others that the offender's conduct amounts to a gross deviation below the standard of care expected to be maintained by a reasonably careful man under like circumstances. LA Rev Stat § 14:12

I have no problem with the concept of fraternities as anything that can foster brotherhood and lifelong friendships and make boys into men is worth having.
What I do have a problem with is immature retards taking their newfound freedom after moving out of mommy and daddy's house a step way too fricking far and thinking they're untouchable and forcing their peers to do some of the most humiliating and degrading shite possible just to join a club.

If there was physical force he would have been charged with 2nd degree or manslaughter.
This, if Naquin forced the kid then he would have gotten a stiffer charge.
He was convicted of negligent homicide. He was asked by other members to tone the hazing down, he didn't. He is over 21 and should understand the consequences of asking a pledge to chug everclear for ten seconds. He is old enough to understand the consequences of asking the kid to take 10 to 12 chugs of everclear over the course of the bible study.
He ignored that and hazed the shite out of someone who he openly didnt like. His frat bros were even concerned with the health of the pledges at the bible study. They poured some of the everclear down the sink and replaced it with water. They knew the hazing was going to far.
This isn't even bringing into account the obstruction of justice charge by deleting his cell phone files minutes after a warrant was issued.
I have a hard time feeling bad for a frat that has a hazing event in this day and age. And I have a hard time feeling bad for Naquin who took the hazing to far.

You're arguing your opinion, I'm stating what society through their elected representatives have collectively demanded after enough hazing incidents like this.
You're a very small minority.

This is well stated. I feel for the kid a tiny bit, but probably not much more than that.

Right.
It's a kneecap shot in response to the retarded consent argument that's somehow supposed to justify hazing and enabling vile and degrading crap like this to go on.

Truth is this rarely happens in a manner that doesn't occur on sports teams, etc. and even then the newsworthy stuff is pretty rare.
Making pledges clean and study and get food for people is like 90% of what would be considered hazing now. And a ton of that stuff is a considered "hazing". It's dumb.
The whole media portrayal of frat kids as thinking they're above the law is pretty ridiculous. Most are decidedly middle or upper middle class and pretty well aware of it.

Hell I was a pledge almost twenty years ago and was never subjected to anything close to what those dumbasses were doing. The worst "hazing" we got was being dropped off in the woods with a couple ponchos, a huge can of beenie weenies, and a cooler full of beast light and told "we'll see you in the morning."
Hell we ended up having a blast. We also found out afterwords that a couple of the brothers were a bit further down the road all night keeping an eye on us.

The result of his death was not because he was ordered to do something. Him drinking it is resulted in his death. I don't support Greeks or not support them, but if someone wanted me to do something that I didn't want to do or may kill me, I would have found a door that leaves the room they are in.
