I'm trying to mathematically determine the odds that either LSU or Florida could make it to the SEC Championship game.
For the sake of this math question, let's assume all 14 teams in the SEC have an equal statistical chance to make it to the game.
Therefore there is a 1 in 7 chance LSU would make it and a 1 in 7 chance Florida could make it.

But what are the odds that EITHER team makes it?
Is it still 1 in 7?
2 in 7?

No trolling about the teams and the cancelled gsme, and the conspiracy theories in this thread are needed. That's what the Rant and the SEC rant are for now.
TIA.

Approximately 0% chance either team makes it to the championship game.

To find the odds that at least one of them makes it, you find the odds of neither of them making it then subtract that number from 1.

So 1-(6/7)*(6/7)

LSU beats Alabama and goes 6-1 in the SEC but Alabama goes 7-1 and goes to the SECCG. Now go to Atlanta and eat a dick. Thanks Florida.

Odds both make it? (1/7)*1/7)=1/49

Odds one or the other make it? 1-(6/7)*(6/7)=13/49

Odds neither make it? (6/7)*(6/7)=36/49
