This is too easy. Except for NOLA
this can happen in Memphis, too

you can't secure the sidewalk

Ummm sure you can. There are temporary and mobile bollard type access controls all over the place.

All this about trucks and sidewalks what I find curious/concerning and may have misunderstood

is that he just ran into a forklift
had he not done that how much deeper into the crowd and more death could have been caused

Ok, we are getting close now....

Do you think he went between the building and bollards or between the bollards on the street?

then he could’ve just completely driven on the sidewalk instead and killed more people

Lot easier to dodge vehicle on canal than it is bourbon

There a light poles, fire hydrants, ect up and down canal right there. He wouldn’t have gotten far

They need concrete Tigers teeth on some of the streets and permanently block off and retractable everywhere else as well as multiple crank up security towers and probably a few machine gun towers and sniper pits as well as bomb sniffing dogs etc for the Super Bowl or they are screwed

In the street.
so let’s say there are bollards everywhere - this guy just walks around the FQ all day planting IEDs, which he may have done

How do you prevent that?

There was a police car blocking Bourbon. The guy drove onto the sidewalk and around the car.

The only way to prevent this is to have bollards on the sidewalk (which I’m sure they will do now) or have a police car on the sidewalk (which doesn’t allow pedestrians to get through.

You must have a barricade or car you can move if you need an ambulance or fire truck to get onto bourbon.

Hindsight is 20/20 but yall would be bitching if NOPD was parked up on the sidewalks and chilling while you tried to squeeze by to get onto Bourbon.

The fact any vehicle could get onto Bourbon St on NYE is insane.

Saw a video from Canal- the guy drove through a crowd on the sidewalk to get on to bourbon - Bourbon’s actual street access was blocked by a police cruiser.

Park a bus, patty wagon, street sweeper or a trash truck or any number of city vehicles larger than cop car. At least get one of their tahoes

They make some that can be unlocked and removed for large vehicle access.

What you are describing is exactly what protects Bourbon.

This is what that side walk looks like. Way easier to move out the way before he hits a pole than an open bourbon street
