The catch, while impressive, will not break the state record of 494 pounds because it was caught on commercial fishing gear. Still, Dave and the crew are kind of famous.

Well, that's kind of shitty. They were fishermen and they caught a fish....

I don’t particularly like sharks, but why would someone be fishing commercially for them? Didn’t think there was much of a market for them.

Ant fisherman that goes offshore will tell you sharks are out of control right now. That’s nothing we have big makos, tigers and great whites right off the beach right now. They are everywhere.

Oh, enjoy your beach trip this year ??

Do you remember last year when those three people got attacked in one day within minutes of each other and the media set into a frenzy over it? Remember how the general public started losing their minds over the increase in shark attacks?

Yeah, well......last year wasn't all that special for shark attacks. There were fewer attacks in 2024 than in 2023, but there was no media panic the year before. The media didn't follow up at the end of the year to update that total......wonder why? It turns out that people are pretty excitable when it comes to sharks.

It is very much a declining fishery in the gulf, but some folks still do go out for sharks with longline gear. Most of them go after red grouper in the eastern Gulf.

Folks used to use gillnets too, but due to market issues with shark conservation and regulatory changes in mesh size ( among many other things) all those folks fish for mackerel and bluefish now

I it was a picture of a great white or tiger or something that big, it would have been like oh neat.

Knowing that's a bull that big is terrifying.

The snowflakes on fb are losing their mind over this. People who have been land locked their entire lives think that we have a shortage of sharks in the gulf.

I asked myself the same question when a crackhead stole a broom off my front porch when I lived on Billups Street in Athens.

If it's worth 25 cents, that's 25 cents.

It's why serranaux gives handjobs behind the 30A Wendy's. He's not gay, but 20 bucks is 20 bucks.
