The real fortunate part of this scenario is he acted alone. If he had another partner in crime, we can theoretically looking at twice the victims or more.

then magazine capacities and so on and so on. there is no magical line that is drawn ever that fits arguments.

Why not? We have already drawn the lines. 100+ round clips being evaluated as for legality is fine by me too.

If gun owners dont want real encroachment on their rights, they need to stop fighting tooth and nail against every little thing.

i've seen multiple outlets refer to homemade bumpstocks. The rhetoric seems to be that just because you can make something at home, it doesn't mean it should be sold legally. As a gun owner, i'm fine with that honestly.

With our history of banning things that are easily made at home, how effective will that ban be?

Prohibition did nothing. War on drugs has done nothing. Coincidence?

Yep...mentioned that earlier. Had there been a gunman in both windows? Probably way more than double the victims.

through a very thin layer of semantics, its pretty damn legal to own an automatic weapon.

What is the point of making automatic weapons illegal if a simple and cheap modification can be purchased to make them illegal? That's the point the media should make, semantics aside.

IIRC correctly, some years ago there was a terror attack in India (not the famous Mumbai one), where the attackers set off bombs in such a manner that they knew the crowd would head a certain direction. In that path were gunners.

I hope we never see that level of planning/coordination.

I see both sides of the argument, but I'll take my chances with a guy using a homemade wooden bump stock over a store bought, machined bump stock.

Automatic weapons are not illegal.

If it had been a coordinated attack with multiple assailants, it could have been exponentially worse. Imagine if there were three or four people shooting from the suite at the Mandalay Bay to the SW... and then another group in the Tropicana about the same distance away to the N-NE, and potentially another group at the Excalibur to the NW.

Could have been far far worse if it was a coordinated group effort.

Investigation of the female companion is still ongoing and they anticipate information from her shortly.

According to the presser.

Me too, but the bump stock seems a little harder to rwgulate than the gat trigger. You dont need to be allowed to mass produce those things and sell them on Amazon or ebay.

When asked if the girlfriend is a suspect, the Sheriff responds: "She's a person of interest."

Here we go...

Said photos leaked are being investigated. Photos of the crime scene. Said he was troubled by them being leaked.

Cameras inside and outside the room as well, set up by Paddock.

When the reporter specifically asked if he recording captured the attack being carried out, he said not necessarily and that he assumed that the cameras were set up to help him determine if officers were coming to apprehend him. He also said that the FBI has taken over all electronic / digital evidence.

Sheriff seems like he knows quite a bit more than he's saying (obviously). Won't confirm most questions/theories being presented.

Paddock fired for roughly 9 minutes, starting at 10:08.

Damn, 59 dead in 9 minutes.

ETA - He hasn't confirmed if Paddock only fired for 9 minutes.
