theaters are going to start becoming more like airports. metal detectors, pat downs, random checks...
This thread is for info/news only. Take that to the poli board.

I think you're missing the point.
His parents got up and LEFT the movie theater. Im not saying I would have done the same thing.
But if I was ever at the movies and it got to a point where I felt that uneasy, and LEFT a theater because of a suspicious character, I am going to tell someone. Because obviously that is a big deal. To LEAVE a movie theater for fear of your safety.

I went to two movies in Boston this summer and employees actually went through theater twice and both times were down low checking the exit doors for safety precautions. Not sure you could really stop anything but at least to make sure no one was trying to enter back into theater.

i mean really? wtf could he do... "hello mr weird looking man, why are you at a movie alone? do you have a gun in your pocket?"
every movie theater has a police detail. Tell the police and put it into their hands. You seriously sound like you are 12 years old.
says the guy running to the security because a strange looking man is sitting in the movies

notify police, have it at least investigated, something so simple could have easily busted him for one thing and leads to another that leads to him being a mental killer in preparation. how you think tips on terrorists work...?
busted him for what? being a goofy looking motherfricker at the movies? They couldnt do and dam thing about a strange looking guy alone in the theatre!

At the very least they could keep an eye on him...
Believe it or not there are alot of crimes that get prevented from anonymous tips.

I just got some info from a friend that is decently high up @ one of the hospital's in Lafayette. The Shooter apparently showed up @ the hospital Wednesday & Thursday, asking the people @ the front desk if the security guards carried guns and if the hospital could handle a mass shooting.
He didn't say what time the man showed up (especially Thursday), but jesus that's creepy.
I work in healthcare administration, and we prepare for active shooter scenarios, but its scary to think of it actually happening.
I wonder if the guy was just searching for the best place in town to commit this heinous act.

I have never been in that situation thus I can't exactly say what I would or wouldn't do, but you can't be going back saying that people who did leave should feel some sorta guilt over doing so and the man not being caught (if it indeed was the same man, which we have no way to say it was at this point). Like I said hindsight is always 20/20.

Yeah then all they have to do is wait for a crowded movie time and shoot up people in line to buy tickets or loitering out front after their movie.
What then? Ban talking about your movie afterwards? Herd us into police protected lines as we buy tickets? You can't let these people affect our lives like that

I took an intership in Houston one summer. Knew nobody there, the first month I was bored on the weekends and would go sit in a movie. I was by myself, but im not a weirdo. Anyway just making the point that people do go to movies alone.

I said if they didn't tell anyone, it would be something they have to live with. They told someone so they did their duty.

Did he just show up, ask the front desk about mass shooting protocol, and then leave? Cause if so the police should have been notified immediately
