The fact that political conversation is being mixed with live information is pretty pathetic.

City Marshal Brian Pope has confirmed for The Daily Advertiser that six people were injured in a shooting Thursday night at the Grand Theatre.

The shooter then turned the gun on himself, Pope said, and is dead.

Katie Domingue of Carencro was at the 7 p.m. showing of "Train Wreck" with her fiance', Joshua Doggett. About 20 minutes into the movie, Domingue said, she heard a loud noise.

"We heard a loud pop we thought was a firecracker," she said.

She saw "an older white man" standing up and shooting down, not in her direction.

"He wasn't saying anything. I didn't hear anybody screaming either," Domingue said.

She heard about six shots, then she and Doggett ran to the nearest exit, leaving behind her shoes and purse.

I don't believe this. This would be the 3rd mass shooting in less than a month. That would have been reported 20 years ago just like today.

I just think the Internet is making these guys infamous and this type of desperate act attracts other crazies.

F.B.I. analysts said that many of the gunmen had studied high-profile shootings, like the one at Columbine High School in Colorado in 1999, before going on their own killing sprees.

The analysts said the gunmen had been attracted to the attention that mass killers received. They were often motivated by a sense that they had no other way to resolve the issues they faced other than violently lashing out, the analysts said.

This is a mental illness problem, not a gun problem. If there were no guns, they'd find another way to murder as many people as possible.

Damn! Guess that's what you call committed!

Those cops probably aren't used to that type of crime in that area.

She wasn't trying to link it, she was asking if there was any credible threats moving forward
