WTF about the windows on the duck boat? That's a death trap.
Probably there as a safety precaution to keep people from falling overboard. Oops

like to think the captain signaled for help as soon as the boat started struggling. That would give rescuers 4 minutes to get there. Not sure what response times should be, but that seems about the time.
Ive never been on Table Rock, but a similar lake in Arkansas lake ouchita didn't hardly have a "coast guard" type presence. If I remember they had one large patrol boat on that lake. And in a ski boat going 50 mph it took an hour to get from one end to the other.
So a rescue boat in this weather likely wasn't anywhere near them

This is absolutely horrific. I am sick to my stomach over this...absolutely tragic. All prayers up for those involved. Wow...

YouTube link o Doppler radar going over the Lake
You can see that outflow that created the winds and how fast it was moving.
Each frame is about 10 minutes or so.
It's sort of hard to tell, but Table Rock Lake is in the center of this image.

There should've been other boats close, there is a video of the duck boat in the storm and sinking so it was close enough that someone could film it with a phone. Who knows though, you can't judge just from that.

In one of the videos I saw some baw in a bass boat coming in behind them but he was getting tossed around so bad I think it took him the other way.

That was not a bass boat. It was a center console.

one family of 11 were aboard, and nine of them are dead.

One of the survivors, Tia Coleman, told Fox 59 News that she and her nephew were the only two from her family who survived.
Speaking by phone from a hospital in Branson, Coleman said she lost all of her children, her husband, her mother-in-law, her father-in-law, an uncle, her sister-in-law, and a nephew.
"My heart is very heavy," Coleman said. "There's not much that can be done. The only thing that I would like to be done can’t — it’s to bring my family back."
Coleman said that while they were on the boat, the captain told passengers not to worry about putting on life jackets.
"You don't need 'em," she recalled him saying. "So nobody grabbed them."
"However, in doing that, when it was time to grab them, it was too late," Coleman continued. "And I believe that a lot of people could have been spared."

Was it? Looked like a ski boat, but I could only see it at a glance.

Those videos are awful. I’d have been knowing my life was in danger. The head was probably too reluctant to take the procedures to atleast try to make sure as many people would make it as possible. I’d have been life jacketed up with my kids near the side where we could atleast not go down with the thing. People were probably grabbing onto eachother. What a mess

I think there may have been a different boat out there at one point but I saw a center console cut across the grain at 4:11 of this video

I did not go back and watch it fully but I do remember seeing some kind of run about or ski boat earlier.

Will be interesting to hear how those that made it got out, while others did not. I wonder how many that didn't make it out were wearing PFD'
the family that lost nine members was a black family, blacks statistically don`t swim, one of the others lost was 1 so thats 10 victims right there, if my very poor hypothesis holds it seems if you were a competent swimmer you made it if not you didn`t

I view everything in a worst case scenario now.
I litteraly stopped my wife from plugging in the vacuum cleaner today because I was afraid I forgot to turn it off and it might accidentally shock her (she’s preggers).
It’s like I think “ok what could possibly go wrong” before doing any routine task nowadays.
Freak accidents are brutal.
