Nobody swims well fully clothed. This is a fact. Not sure how this silly looking boat went fully under, but frankly I'm surprised anyone survived.

I don’t give a frick if the Captain said life jackets weren’t needed. When I saw those waves, my arse would have been strapped up.

After the Capt got me out there in that mess to begin with, I’m not listening to a damn word he had to say.
Question is. Why were there 2 boats out there ?

A tragedy like this is not the time to apply stereotypes.

17 human beings lost their lives that didn't deserve to.

it seems if you were a competent swimmer you made it if not you didn`t

Or you could be a competent swimmer trying to keep small kids from drowning. I know I’d go down holding mine above water before I swam off and left them.

As well as the elderly victims. I think I saw that the ages ranged up to 80.

Dude Michael Phelps could have likely drowned in that situation

Panic and stress along with those conditions could drown anyone without a pfd

We don't yet know what happened, in this case it may turn out those in PFDs are the ones that got trapped in the boat, those without them may have got out, in that case the Captains negligence inadvertently could have saved lives, but as I said we don't really know.

Would a PFD help if you were trying to dive down and get out of a capsized boat with limited exits?

On the one hand, 10 minutes before it got rough, it was a regular , lazy summer afternoon.
But, on the other hand, the thunderstorm warning was threatened and ultimately posted, so these knuckleheads should have been using a Doppler radar app and tell easily trouble was on the way.

One of the survivors says that the captain told them that PFD's weren't necessary and they never even pulled them out of the storage bin.

And 20 drowning people could have drowned anyone with a pfd. Really lucky that anyone survived.

I understand this statement comes from a woman who lost nine, NINE, of her family members, but I find this highly unbelievable. I could believe that he didn't come out and tell people to put them on, but to be asked and then announce directly that they are not needed, is, at best, a misunderstanding.

Branson is like Vegas for elderly people. Had to be a lot of old people on the boats.

Anyone take an offshore survival course where you’re strapped into a “helicopter” and capsized in a pool? That shits pretty freaky knowing it’s happening even in a controlled environment, this must’ve been chaotic

I litteraly stopped my wife from plugging in the vacuum cleaner today because I was afraid I forgot to turn it off and it might accidentally shock her (she’s preggers). It’s like I think “ok what could possibly go wrong” before doing any routine task nowadays.

Come on guy, I am not talking about mundane tasks here. I am talking about some idiot taking a baby down a river in a canoe and things like that. It happens all the time. All I can think to myself is... what the hell where the parents thinking? As I said that likely wasn't the case here. All I can say is, would my family go on a duck tour... sure! Would we take our 2 year old... hell no.

If you ever found a dead child who had drown I can promise you it would affect your life in profound ways.
