Not only live, live comfortably. In Alabama at least. Living expenses here are dirt cheap. My wife just got approved to buy a decent house despite only making $13.94 an hour(I can't be on the loan because 3 years of workman's comp). I would have a home, nice car, and a boat. If I lived alone, and made 35k a year. While still saving money.

**Assuming we are starting this exercise while not in debt.

II had this happen when I was making $25k/yr. Used up all of my cash, and had to get a loan to fix it. Ended up costing about $27k after all was said and done. Pickings were slim back then. With bills and stuff, I had to get multiple extensions. That was with a college degree.

Hoping to come out of this round of school making volod money

My spots were more like Surrey's, Ruby Slipper, Oak Street Cafe, Panola Street Cafe, good affordable brunch spots. And yes, she would have had to be an O-T 9 to get Commander's.

I see now way, just the things I like to do for fun cost more than that. Add in living expenses etc and it's not even close. Probably could live very comfortably on $100K if single

True, and I definitely turned down a few dinners with friends and a few trips that I didn't feel were worth it on my budget. In a way it was somewhat easier to not do things back then than it is now, sometimes it's hard to turn down invitations that I don't really want to go to now when back then I could just say I couldn't afford it at the moment.

You are so fricking miserable. Read the OP no mention of "living well" whatever that means to a fig like you. No mention of owning a home. Do you ever look back at your bullshite and say "I was wrong."? Ever? Even once?

In 1994-95 I was in grad school in Tuscaloosa. I lived well on 750 a month.

I was 23 and on my parent's insurance and drove a paid off 1985 Nissan Sentra.

I lived in a one bedroom cinder block apt for 235 a month.

I had money left over and everything I wanted.

Cry about it more. And I've said I was wrong on here plenty of times.

I´d really like to know where the 19 upvoters live to think this is possible.

ETA I´m assuming house is paid for.

Not reading all 25 pages but,

ABSOLUTELY.

If I had my 20s/current 30s to do all over again, I'd go with a mid-sized pick-up truck, an Air Stream trailer, my dog, some smart grocery shopping/grilling nearly every night, car insurance, cell phone, satellite tv, plenty left over for social life & savings.
