And amazingly, I'm the only one that read the OP. Blame it on everyone else. But nah, that won't happen. It must just be me.

Says the guy that couldn't be bothered to go off the OP and rambled for 20 pages. Yea, I'm the woman in this equation.

So are you the downvoter? You replied amazingly fast and a downvote was there at the same time.

Did the OP say you needed to own a house with that income? I didn't read it that way. I read that you would need a house. And guess what, if you are paying a note, you don't own a house.

He also make no mentions of roommates and explicitly says by yourself. No one seems to care about that part either.

He said you need a house. Not that you own a house. You don't own a house. And who said anything about roommates?

Let's get back to the original point here. I could live in a house by myself with ample clothes, food, water, healthcare, and all other manner of survival type things for far less than 35k a year.

Just about everyone that has said they said they easily lived on $35k. Are you really trying to rehash this again?

My first full time job I made about $31,500 pre-tax. I also contributed for a small percentage of my pay to be taken out and put in our work retirement account. Insurance and whatnot was also covered through work. But I wasn't physically bringing home a lot of money.

-Shared a house and paid $400 a month which included rent/power/tv/internet
-had a paid off vehicle that I paid maybe $70 a month for car insurance
-cell phone was $80 a month
-I ate cheap and with restaurants and grocery store probably spent between $250-$400 a month

I made do just fine and there was nothing that I REALLY desired to do that couldn't. Granted, I had hardly any money socked away in savings or retirement, but I definitely wasn't hurting to squeak out a living. I went on a few vacations a year, went to every UGA football game that season (home/away/bowls), drove 3 hours to visit family/friends back home several times throughout the year, etc.

It's been mentioned many times thought this thread, but some people have no clue how to live within their means. Although that job was years ago and I'm in much better position now, I still haven't changed my lifestyle all that noticeably. I live in a nicer place now and have more "stuff", but I still live as simply as I can.

I'm responding to the OP. I don't care about your little side bitch fights. My responses have been to the original post.

I could easily live in a house, by myself, on 35k a year.

Question answered honestly. Why are you arguing with me?

This just gets away form the whole premise of the thread.

Clearly you do since hours later you're trying to start it all over again

But you couldn't buy that house by yourself and save for retirement and have a few hundred dollars each month in play money, which is what the OP said.

Well I'm guessing 35k a year would be about 2k a month estimate.

$750 house note (small house remember your by yourself)
$80 electricity
$50 for live stream tv
$200 savings
$300 play money
$200 miscellaneous bills

And yo still have plenty money left over for food and gas.
