yes...

My wife gladly took my last name. It is an honor.
My blood is the only blood with this last name in the country, and likely the world.

just because somewhere down the line your family misspelled your name doesnt make you unique

Dad?
ETA: Not sure about the world part. But we're definitely the only ones in this country.

BTW, my wife and actually had this conversation the other day because in New Orleans there are a lot of left wing liberals that have hyphenated last names and even make their children use them as well and we both agree that its stupid and embarrassing.
She would never think twice about it and that's all I needed to hear.

Equality. I have personally seen a man take his wifes last name once
I met a guy who did this. He's a lawyer and she's a doctor. I can't remember his exact reasoning other than he's a huge cuck.
The wife is Filipino and her last name commands a ton of respect in the area of the Phillipines that she's from as her parents are two of the only educated people in the area and thus two of the richest. Her dad's a doctor and mom is an engineer and the area basically couldn't function without them. But that wasn't even a part of his cuckold decision to take his wifes name since they live in the US.
ETA: and the fact that she's a doctor has nothing to do with it because they met in undergrad, and got married and he took her last name while she was still in med school and he was in law school

My wife didn't legally change her last name, but uses mine socially. Her professional title doesn't use my name. At first I figured it would bother me then I thought about how big a pain in the arse it would be to update all those licenses and stuff, not to mention her publications before marriage wouldn't match either. It could be worse, she could earn jack shite.

No, I didn't but I have a badass last name so who wouldn't want to be a Riley?
But to answer your question, unless she is professionally bound to her name, famous, or I have a shite last name like a co-worker of mine in Cotchaleovitch then it is a deal breaker. If she is just a regular ole person and wants to keep her last name just cause then she can go find some other dude who has no backbone.

Having this talk right now. Gf comes from an old Dutch family that can trace their name back several centuries. None of the men in her dads family had any boys. She says she wants to keep her name, and since she has to go through the labor process they should get her name, too. I don't think she's serious, but one can never tell.

Didn't force, she wanted to because she's not a crazy person.
She could have kept her name and I wouldn't have cared that much I guess. Hyphenation or our kid having a hyphenated name (or hers) would have been a dealbreaker

No, it was just understood, but you new young motherfrickers are about 4 cans short of a 6-pack, so why wouldn't it be an "issue".
Tell him to ask the count whore to hyphenate if she doesn't want to succumb (used on purpose) to the norm.
