Is it? Why?

Because I trust the woman I married and she's just as financially responsible as me.

We have separate accounts, but with the same bank--we can both see each other's funds and transfer back and forth at will. Makes it easier to budget.

Also, I don't have anything to hide.

We have separate accounts so no need to be secretive with anything.

We have one account and it's mine, but I don't feel comfortable with her having access to it.

No secret accounts but we have set aside a savings account that is "difficult" to withdraw money.

We have a joint checking for bills but our paychecks go into separate checking accounts as a safety measure in case my exwife sues for more CS. Each of us has visibility into those accounts.

Marriage is the debil, children. Don't affix yourself to a single parcel of real estate.

Just kidding! Love you honey!

(Changes password on secret account).

If you need to go through the trouble of having a separate, secret account because you don't trust your SO and need to hide money, then why are you married? Get the divorce now and save yourselves the years.

Mrs. JFT is the breadwinner, so if anyone is getting bamboozled here- it is me.

I work in the finance industry. For Married couples under age 55 I would say the average is about 65% either the husband or wife have "mad money" accounts or secret/hidden ones.

There's nothing wrong with separate accounts that each spouse knows about.

There's nothing wrong with a separate account in which your significant other has no oversight over, but they know about it.

Trouble finds its way in when there is the intent to conceal.
It's comminity property if you are married and don't have a separate property agreemt filed in a court house.
There's a good likelihood the significant other's attorney/PI will dig it up if you conceal $$$.

We have joint accounts but allow each other spending money in the budget for whatever we want.
I have access but no interest in following every penny of her "separate" spending.

Hiding money is a good way to end a marriage and lose it all in a divorce.

There is no way that number is accurate. 65% of couples under 55 have a secret account that the other partner doesn't know about?

No way.

I have my company Per Diem card that money gets loaded onto when I travel. I use it as my rainy day fund, wife doesn't ask or want to know how much is on there because in her eyes that is my money to do with whatever I please. I use it to pay for my hunting club dues and other outdoor associated things.
