Seriously - between Didier and crazy Mike Johnson - those 2 are enough. That's excluding Angelo Piazza, Eddie Knoll, etc.

What about the Riddles?

Oh and RIP Bill Belt

I didn't know Charlie's daddy - but Charlie, himself, seems okay.

To illustrate just how weird that place was/is: Charlie was defending a cat on appeal that Crazy Mike gave something like 48 or 50 years for simple burglary (adjudicated a habitual offender, doubled, consecutive sentences). One of the victims was the former Marksville mayor - Charlie's uncle. The crimes were basically - this older guy (late 20s) would get his cousins and friends who were babysitters to scout out homes for guns and large piles of cash. Then he would get other under-aged relatives to break in and take the stuff.

They had plenty of victims with 5 figures in cash in the mid-90s. Just a strange, strange place.

Yeah - he was part of Crazy Mike's jailhouse phone scheme.

The current DA is just as corrupt/bribable as the rest of them. Don't think differently

I'm not a child - I'm just speaking from experience. Heck, Eddie and I never had cross words - on a personal level, for that matter. He sent a couple of very complimentary messages to my bosses (and not sure how that was received). But, where Eddie is unabashedly corrupt to the core - at least Charlie maintains the pretext of integrity.

The lawyers out there are very personable, very likeable, on the whole, even the corrupt ones. But Charlie seems less "sleazy" or "slimy" compared to the others - particularly the politically active ones.

I mean if you were voting in any election out there and your choices were Piazza, Knoll or Riddle, you go with Riddle every time, right? Unless you stood to gain something by voting for one of the others.

(Just my opinion, of course. I've been out of it for almost a decade.)

Less "sleazy" and "slimy" is still not saying much. You are correct though. If choices were Piazza,Knoll, or Riddle. I go Riddle.

How in the hell do either of these guys get bond? Is this unusual for a 2nd degree murder case?

I've read very little of this. However I'll share a story I learned yeasterday, it may have been said, IDK.

Norris Greenhouse Jr. and Chris Few knew each other well and were in a beef about the mother, the trashy one with a cig hanging from her mouth. All were also involved in some low level drug ring.

Greenhouse Sr., paid the bail and this will further shine light on Riddle's office, and his family problems like the wife embezzling money from the bank.

Big shite storm brewing...

What are the cliffs here?

- Two cops shoot up car with dad and 6 year old in it
- Dad unarmed
- One of the cop's dads is an ADA in Marksville

So what else is there?

- Pre-existing beef between cops and dad?
- Drug ring involved with cops and dad?
- Did they know a kid was in the car?
- Did they use their service weapons or personal weapons?
- How many shots were fired?
- Did the dad try to run or escape in any way, or was this basically a hit?

From what I was told, and granted, it's in the gossip column still:

quote:

Yes
quote:

- Did they know a kid was in the car?

Likely No
quote:

- Did they use their service weapons or personal weapons?
- How many shots were fired?

Service, and a lot, I can't recall but it's documented

quote:

- Did the dad try to run or escape in any way, or was this basically a hit?

That's the question. He was turning around in a dead end street and ended up riddled with gunshots. Other question is whether at least one was an unmarked undercover car. The dad got out when he saw real trouble coming with his hands up and knew the kid was in the car.

Oh shite and they kept firing anyway?

That makes it seem like a hit. I hope these guys burn. Small town Louisiana police have been corrupt since their formation. Its unreal.
