People that keep throwing around “Third World” have never actually been to a Third World country.

Take a quick trip to Boca Chica or Santo Domingo DR and drive around that place for a few days and get back to me.

You’ll see what a true third world city looks like.

You seemed to infer that Orleans population can sustain a metro while Jefferson’s cannot. If I made that inference up, than please forgive me.

can someone explain how she thinks fed going to make it right?

Lightfoot called for federal help to ease the budget crunch, blaming the pandemic for the vast majority of the city’s shortfall, rebutting claims by President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers that the city’s fiscal crisis is of its own making.

“The federal government must step up and support our cities and states with additional stimulus dollars critically needed by our families and businesses,” Lightfoot said.

I’m not going to say you made it up, but I promise you that’s far from what I intended to infer.

Next piece of property I purchase won’t be in this state.

I haven't been told a good argument to oppose this statement.

And to counter the Detroit argument, again, those suburbs have good, public schools. To respond to bee rye, we wont get development in that area with their public schools.

They didn't give enough warning. They didn't close the borders. They underplayed the situation.

Whether you agree or not doesn't matter, that is the opinion.

Which has no bearing opening the city back up.

She could have opened the city at anytime. The only person stopping her was the Governor of Louisiana

I would love for her to go on Newell’s show with her bs. Newell would make her head explode.

I’ve been to third world countries and there are some places in New Orleans after dark that look eerily similar. Replace chickens running in and out of the house with stray dogs, take away the cars and it’s about the same.

Yet again, an amazing city with horrendous leadership. This has not changed for a long time and may never. That’s New Orleans; we could be a top world city with better captains at the helm.

and even when the governor went to phase 3, she wouldn’t be bullied into moving out of phase 2. Forget that the data is more favorable in new Orleans as compared to pretty much everywhere else in the state. But you know what she won’t put a stop too? The black community having massive parties under the interstate every weekend

I'm hearing of several high profile local bankruptcies being prepared right now that when filed will send some shock waves across nationally.

This is scary to hear. I don’t live there amd never have but I’ve always enjoyed the city amd had many memorable times there. Had one of the best ‘date’ weekends in my life there in 2014. It was a wonderful experience. Not to mention the 100 Saints games and unforgettable concerts from when I was younger.

That said, New Orleans is similar to my youth. It was awesome and I made the most of it, but it’s gone and it’s never coming back. It’ll never be again what is was then. For a few years there, I thought it was going to be resurrected, but it’s not. The populace that fills the lower income area is to stupid and the government too corrupt. It’ll never have a attractive business climate therefore it’ll always be a ‘has been’.

New Orleans is like a museum that you could potentially get killed in.

I'm not sure about that. I kind of think that's still why the bars can't sell drinks to go including the daq shops.

I saw the press conference and she blamed the Feds for not being able to move to phase 3. The woman is not only dumb but mentally unstable.

Nope. You would need an entirely new crew and set of passengers.
