Marijuana smell in New Orleans

I was in the city this past weekend and was amazed by the amount of marijuana being smoked out in the open on the city streets. We walked pass a group speaking to police officers and the group was just burning away. Walked by other just puffing and sharing as they walked around.
I guess that I have been working too much the past few years to realize that it is okay to smoke marijuana out in the open now.
I will say that it certainly does smell different than the 60's and 70's.

I first noticed the brazen openness of people doing it the weekend of LSU's natty. The Marigny was pungent.

MJ smell is way better than the usual mixture of piss, horse shite, skunk beer, puke, body odor and chemical fumes

Yep, we took my 1yr old down for the festivities and the smell hit you in the face as soon as we made the turn on Decatur walking from Esplanade. It was the first time it was ever really that noticeable to me.
