there should be a legal option to buy and if people choose that option they will pay a tax that will benefit the community, as is the case with all other consumer goods.

All consumer good have an additional 10-15% tax on top of the retail price?

If you think we ended up here because of Republicans alone than I don't know what to tell you. Why didn't Obama decriminalize it when Democrats had the white house and both houses?

Republicans are the current holdup in legalization efforts.. all over the map.

If the feds and your state decriminalized it sure, but to say the feds wouldn’t have a role is in error, feds control international and interstate commerce, and I doubt you could grow anything in your backyard that would be worth smoking. Unless dirt weed is your thing.

I’m not against legalization, but we can’t believe everything is going to be better when it’s legal.

This study was done in 2016 - and of course it highlights the problems of legalization in Colorado and Washington

According to other things I read, Oregon has similar outcomes except the car accidents

Conservative Republicans in the senate will block legalization. Not because they give one bit of a shite about you or this country, but because they are bribed by corrupt pharmaceutical, alcohol, law enforcement, and private prison lobbies

Fact. But they sell "freedom" to morons who have not read a book since high-school.

2019 marked an 81.1 percent four-year graduation rate for the state — the highest rate in the last nine years, according to the Colorado Department of Education. Colorado's graduation rate has increased by 8.7 percentage points since 2010. Also Coloradian HS students averaged 5 points higher on the ACT.

Addiction / Rehap intakes are significantly down for teens (not suprising considering that the majority of people enter substance abuse programs due to either trying to minimize legal issues or through court mandated programs. No laws broken = no mandates to attend rehab). Suicide rates are down. Petty crime is down. Violent crime is down.

What are the arguments on the other side again? What is science here? It's ridiculous to have marijuana criminalized... the pros far exceed the cons to legalizing marijuana.

Just look at the states that have legalized it. 100% deterioration of the community around cities. Crime goes up. Homelessness goes up. Truancy increases.
I know this board seems to be pro-legalization of weed, but all the signs point to great tax increases in the immediate few years and then straight downhill after that. Plus now some of these states are pushing for more decriminalized stances on more powerful drugs.
It’s a bad idea.

As a conservative I agree on legalization. The fact alcohol is legal and not weed is beyond stupid.

Gambling is a tax on the poor.

The poor runs out of money, they rob little Joey's corner store or steal for cash

My house was burglarized by a guy who had a gambling problem.

all for legalizing THC, just not in smokable form. I mean if we're fighting the good fight against cigarettes we can't be hypocritical.

But edibles, oils, etc, legalize the shite out of it.
