So many angry grinches and miserable people on this board.

New Orleans has one of the largest and most unique week long celebrations on earth full of awesome live music, floats that are works of art, people of all walks of life celebrating and communing just having a good time.

New Orleans has a richly distinct and amazing culture full of wonderful architecture, art, history, food, music, and spirit and it’s a shame that we’re watching it descend into chaos and letting it slowly fall apart.

Mardi Gras tonight reminded me how much I love this city. And how much I loathe the people tearing it apart.

Agreed. But the OT is full of people who have spent a sum total of three days in New Orleans in their lifetime who will respond with "Shithole!" and poo poo your sentiment.

So people who don’t like it just be angry and miserable?

The need in todays society for people to put others with differing likes or preferences into a bucket and vilifying them is out of control.

For all its "tolerance, acceptance, diversity is our strength" mantras - liberalism sure seems to demand absolute conformity of thought.

No. I said this board is full of angry grinches and miserable people. Which it is. It’s ok if you don’t like Mardi Gras. Plenty of posts the last week are full of anger and misery.

Some people can and should be justifiably vilified. For example: communists, socialists, DAs who are soft on crime, shitty parents, anyone who seeks to corrupt youth for their own ends, politicians who put their own interests ahead of the needs of their constituents.

I understood you perfectly the first time. People who don’t share your philosophies and likes are bad…very very bad.

No. You didn’t. You should take a deep breath. Maybe reevaluate some of that anger you have misplaced.

Maybe sit the next few plays out, champ. It’s 5am on a Saturday. You shouldn’t be this pent up and angry.

If it weren’t for all the thug crimes and mental cases I would be down in New Orleans this weekend. Political leaders won’t do anything about crime except making it easier to get right back on the streets with a slap on the wrist. “So called leadership” is so corrupt I don’t see how New Orleans ever gets better. Yes, it is a f’n shithole.

Carnival in Cologne Germany

New Orleans, used to be great. Now it's just a stinking mess. If New Orleans, would embrace it's European heritage and not race to the bottom on every cultural issue, then I'd be in more support of it.

The Mardi Gras following Katrina and the then the one after the Saint’s Super Bowl were my two favorite of all time.

Not going to take the chance to be another statistic this year. And I like NOLA.

Can't argue there.

This is a demographic issue.

When you boast about the party, you get the partiers. That's not a bad thing, it is what it is.

I know so many shitbags who love Mardi Gras because they are excited to get drunk and maybe see a fight or two.

I'm pretty whatever with Mardi Gras. I've been to some fun Mardi Gras celebrations, but at the end of the day it's a party. Parties in New Orleans are top class, but you can party anywhere.

If you want to go to the best party, go to the best party. But to ignore the crime statistics and call people grinches because they'd rather stay out of a city where one of the larger economies is theft is disingenuous.

I’ve had some incredible moments at Nola Mardi Gras, from my days as an LSU student with 20 bucks in my pocket to the recent years with friends and our kids playing. It’s all about choices and being sure to make good ones while out there. Things can go bad stupid quick out there, but Mardi Gras had staying power for a reason… it’s a hoot.

There are a lot of karens out there these days though.
