they both had the same strain of hpv, which is the link.

This is what you get when a manchild sees a headline with "anal" in it.

The subject pretty much is the whole story. No need to click the ink for more info if you don't want.
Fecal/oral transmission of HPV (get you shots kiddos).
The link was just for proof I wasn't making it up. And yes, getting rectal cancer from an oral sex act seems OT worthy.
S#!# - eating grin

I'm not 100% sure that my line of thinking here is accurate, so interject with facts if I'm wrong, but: HPV is an STD. These two are married. Did they have it when they got married and just not know? Or is one/both fricking around on the side in order to have brought this into their relationship?

A metric frick ton of people have HPV. Entirely possible, and likely, they got it before getting married.

Yep. If I recall from my microbiology course, something like 80% of the sexually active adult population has one or more strains of HPV.
Not all cause warts. Not all cause cancers. Your immune system can take care of many.

I understand that. But it is transmitted through sex. And she's been married to this guy since 2006, if I'm reading correctly. I would just assume that this is something they would have known they had beforehand. Perhaps they did and the risks weren't as clear at the time. Just curious.

But you don't just start out with it, right? It would be contracted through sexual activity?
ETA: So after a quick read, I get it. The latency factor involved would mean it's entirely possible for someone to have it and never know. Now, if both people in a relationship were virgins to begin with, all is good. That's a BIG rarity these days, though.

I'm confused as to why you're confused?
The various HPVs can also transmit from skin-to-skin contact.
