I went to Six Flags over Texas back in the mid 2000s and it was a blistering 113 during the day. Hottest weather I've ever felt. Thank goodness it cooled down to 98 at night time.

In the real bad cold you gotta worry about exhaust clogging, electricity staying on to power heat, staying dry. Etc etc.
Down here, electricity is off you go to a pool, a tub and just prune for a bit.
Sure heat and cold both kill. But we aren't running out of water here. You can easily run out of something to burn for warmth up there or be completely isolated from help.

My uncle was on the service and was stationed in Duluth Minnesota. He said you had to be nice and get to know your neighbors because you never knew when you were gonna need them to dig you out of your house. It wasn’t uncommon for all the snow accumulation to slide off your roof and trap you inside.
frick that!

I've never had to shovel the heat off my driveway.

I never had to shovel shite out of my driveway either, that doesn’t mean I’d rather eat a shite sandwich over a dirt one

I thought it would have been higher in the Dallas area.
the time frame cuts off at 6 pm. extend that out to 10 pm and it probably looks a little different

lets do this with the cold and see how we fair.
One of the reasons I love living where I do is we do well in both. I hate extreme temps, period. Hot or cold.

Mother of God....
Higher concentrations of melanin in the skin created an advantage for individuals in places with too damn much sun light....
The sun is the master oppressor!

Windy conditions exclude much of that area. Any reading that was otherwise "oppressive" with a wind of 10mph or greater was excluded.

He didn't cover that exact timeframe, but he did a couple others:
Lowering the threshold to 90 degrees instead of 95:
Lowering the threshold to 85 degrees and looking at 11pm to 6am:

Yeah, we usually hire someone or use a blower. Shovels are so 1970's
