We've always heard Baton Rouge and New Orleans would be targeted first, well...

This finally puts that rumor to the test!

I'll give them Memphis and Detroit for target practice.

First targets would be .mil installations, airbases, ICBM silos, manufacturing/production/power centers and radar installations, airports, etc.

The soviets would have targeted population centers with the next level intensity attack.

The soviets had a different theory than us. They planed on launching more war heads with a higher yield due to the fact they were rather inaccurate. Of course, we would know they were coming with a fair warning unless their subs launched close to coastlines, then mere minutes of a warning.

Then and today, we should continue to develop countermeasures and missile defense systems, thank Odumbo for putting that off to pay entitlements though.

Lafayette on the 500 missile list?

I suppose this is really because of the old Henry Gas Plant was on the high priority target list because of all of the offshore pipelines that run through the plant

All the strikes across north alabama are hydro electric dams. The one in NW Alabama would take out Wilson dam and the IFDC.

Good thing I only live 20 miles from there. I might see the bright light before turning to ash.

Seriously, we have known where their shite is and they have known where our shite is for over 45 to 50 years. Military targets and various infrastructure targets will be the first to go. After that, population centers. Also, back in the late 1960's USSR developed a list of off-limits places to U.S. Dignitaries. The U.S. responded with their own list. Some of the places on both lists really had no rhyme or reason other than perhaps decoys. Monroe was on that list. Flip side, Monroe was also sitting on the country's top natural gas field at one time.

The theory is an enemy would take out all 50 state capitals. Take down the federal government and the states could still communicate and function.

What's so important south of Lafayette? Is that one of those salt domes that we have full of oil?
