Before Katrina, you could spot them in the lake and even down some of the bayous in old Mandeville.

We don't want them here. Before you know it every waterway will be a no wake zone like in Florida. It takes forever to get anywhere in the Florida waterways because you can't take your boat out of neutral due to manatee no wake zones.

My nephew accidentally hooked one when we were fishing last year. Oh my God, you would have thought he shot a bald eagle from the reaction we got from the game warden. He was arrested and his fishing gear and truck were confiscated. And they took all 8 coolers of meat for evidence.

yeah, I'm calling bullshite on this. I've fished Charlotte Harbor area for over 10 years and its not that big of a deal.
Hell, normal boat traffic is more of an issue than the manatees.
