Are you honestly surprised when you observe extreme levels of grace demonstrated by those most affected? I would guess that these were Christians.

This happens all the time. Just look at how those poor black parishioners re-acted to Roof shooting up their church in Charleston.

Um, no. The point of incarceration is punishment for crimes committed. Dude is guilty of multiple counts of attempted murder at the very least, and was sentenced to die behind bars until a little judicial tyranny was implemented.
