What? You would be dumb as frick to choose a 6 inch long blade over a 30-something inch long bat. Not just with the wolf, but against anything. Human, dog, mountain lion, etc,...anything.
Length beats sharpness all day when choosing a defensive weapon like that. You can jab and keep something at bay. But then you can use it offensively as well. A good powerful swing with a bat is usually good enough to put just about anything down with one shot if placed right.

An average male with this 6 inch blade could do some damage to a wolf:
The issue being you'd probably need to be on your back with the wolf attacking you to get a good puncture into the vitals.

I'd go knife. If I frick up and miss my first swing with the bat, I'm probably fricked. Best chance to survive might be to let the wolf grab hold of your arm and while he is crunching down, you stab him repeatedly in the head.
