Sure you can. You can keep your house and your yard up, be friendly, and not commit crimes or do shite that affects the quality of life of those around you. Hard stop. Reaching out to self proclaimed "community organizers" to provide some pandering, bullshite "I want you to know that I acknowledge my presence here directly and indirectly affects you" is not on the list.

Anyone who read the comments knows that this had nothing to do with this particular block party. This is all about blacks in New Orleans being pissed that their neighborhoods are being overrun with white gentrifiers from out of town. That’s it.
As I told a friend of mine who is living in a neighborhood that is currently gentrifying in Orleans parish, no whites who grew up in the greater New Orleans area are moving into those neighborhoods. It’s all out of town liberal hipsters who think that they are welcome.
If you have any doubt, why do you think he asked her where she was from? And, why was he so pissed when she finally fessed up and said she was from Arkansas? He probably thought she was gonna say New York or California. But an Arkansas liberal gentrifier pisses him off just as much as any Northeastern or West Coast liberal.

I guess you could say that it was back in the 1700s when a small handful of french people owned the entire area.
