"gentrification" has happened in every society, in every city, throughout the entire course of human history.
Neighborhoods change. They evolve.
Just go to a neighborhood like Trastevere in Rome or the Jewish Quarter and see how those hoods have evolved over 1000s of years.

People often hyperbolically say “people will complain about everything”
Well, in today’s time that has become true for some people. I never thought it would be possible to complain about people moving into your neighborhood and fixing up houses, making things nicer, and increasing the value
