according to the article, a hunting dog went on the tracks and he went to save it. dog lived. sounded like he was one of the hunters in the group, but article wasnt 100% clear

Looks like the dog made it because he was pushed out of the way but the man didn't. They were duck hunting.

So my coworker is familiar with the guy and says he had a daughter. The mother also died earlier this year. So this poor child will effectively be an orphan.
