Been missing mine for 20 years. Visited his grave the other day and it still feels like he just left. He was my favorite person in the world.

One of my grandfathers died 8 years before I was born, and the other died when I was 5. Would have like to have known them.

You might be suprised...greed coupled with stress from the whole situation really seems to bring out the shittiness in a lot of folks. I have seen it a number of different times.

Thankfully both of mine are still alive. My gf lost her 2 years ago and honestly she still hasn’t gotten over it. She loved him more than her parents I think. Great guy, was a WW2 fighter pilot

Only met him once for a short time 50+ years ago. He left
a great impression on a 10 year old for such a short visit,
Mom's side. Only met 1 aunt on the old man's side.

I think about my ma-maw 3-4 times a week since she died 10 years ago. During holidays it’s 3-4 times a day.

When you loose grandparents, parents, brothers it puts your life into perspective. Live a good life and be kind to one another. We are here but for a short time.

Sorry you’re struggling. You’re right, a good grandfather is truly a blessing. All my grandparents are gone. My maternal grandfather was a great man. He died right before hurricane Katrina. He was one of the best people you’d ever meet in this world. Just a different generation and value system.

I never really had one. Maternal died very young. Well before I was born. Paternal died when I was 2

Same here. Except my paternal died when I was 5. My memories are limited as I didn't see him often when he was alive.

My grandpaw sat me down a few months before he died and gave me a few nuggets of wisdom:

Take your time, don't live too fast
Troubles will come and they will pass
Find a woman and you'll find love
And don't forget there is someone up above. Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need is in your soul
And you can do this if you try
All that I want for you is to be satisfied.

Never met my dads side. My mom’s dad was a drunk and her mom was one of Lucifer’s harpies. So not a whole lot of regret here. But I do miss mom and dad. They were great parents and then great friends.

Nope.

Maybe for you.

One of mine was a dick and died when I was about 18 and the other one died before I was born.

Moms are the best. Nobody will love you like your mom. Ever. I miss mine every day.

My grandfather was the glue holding my family together. He passed in 2011 and my dad in 2014 then the family went to shite quickly. No a day goes by I don’t think of them.
