He's been gone almost four years. The finest man I've ever met. I even named my son after him.

Grandfathers really are the best.

I never really had one.

Maternal died very young. Well before I was born.
Paternal died when I was 2.

It’s the greatest regret of my life...if regret is the right word.

Sorry to hear that you are missing him....I thought about mine a lot too during this recent holiday season.

If you are missing him, that means that he was a person that meant a lot to you, so be thankful that you had him for the time that you did.

All that we can ask for in this life is that those that we leave behind when we are done have good memories of us...there really is nothing more.

My grandpa has been gone almost 6 years.
I blame that on almost 99% of the problems I’m dealing with now. He was my rock for almost all my life.

Yep nothing beats a good grandfather.

I still have my dad's father left. Turns 86 next month. He still has a sharp mind and is still mobile.

When my mom's old man passed that whole side of the family went to shite. Lots of fighting over assets and taking advantage of my Grandma.

My paw paw practically raised me since my parents were divorced and dad worked a lot. Finest man I've ever known. I was lucky to have him until my late 30s.

My parents were 41 years old when they had me.

Both of my mom's parents died before I was born.

My dad's dad died when I was 5 months old, his mom died when I was six and I saw her like twice in my life.

I really wish I had the joy of experiencing a childhood with grandparents.

I didn't have a dad growing up. My grandfather stepped up and mostly filled that role. He's the only person I've ever cried over losing.

Yeah, I don’t know what I’m going to do when mine goes. Out of all of my family I’ve always felt the closest to my grandpa. Great, great man. He’s 85 and still pretty sharp. Talked to him last week and told me he fell off the his porch and broke his wrist. Just happy that’s all he broke. Dude is stronger than an ox.

Sorry for your loss.

My teetotaling, Southern Baptist, sweet little ole grandmother sat me down when I was about 5. Gave me 3 rules to live by:

1. If you’re hungry, eat
2. If you’re sleepy, sleep

3. And if you can see her tits from behind, marry her.

We waste so much time chasing frivolous bulkshit while the important things in life just slip away. It's usually when they're gone that we realize it

My paternal grandpa died when I was 10, but I was lucky to have my other one until I was about 24. Really wish they were still here today. I'd love to see how they would be with my boys and the things they could teach them.

Watching my dad with my kids now warms my heart though. They're making memories that I know will be in their soul forever.
