I had completely forgotten about the pet store there.

How about the baw trying out the new bow with a row of guns behind him? Imagine the melts today if you could still buy a gun at the mall

Would be 3 deaths if they didn't shoot sideways.

"Conveniently" placed right next to what, at the time for a kid, seemed like the greatest McDonald's in the world (that was when going to McDonald's was still a rare occasion).

Looking back, our parents must have hated that pet shop. You take your kid to a movie and pre-movie lunch/dinner at McDonald's, only to have them end up begging for a damn puppy, goldfish, etc

And the baseball card store was across from McDonald's too. I spent hours in that place.

It's no exaggeration to say that was the greatest McDonald's restaurant that ever was. The seating seemed to go on for miles and offered a great view of passersby. I loved that place as a child and still think of it every now and then.

The pet store went by "Pets, Pets, & Petz," or something similarly unusual. My folks bought me a hamster there, likely after dining at said McDonald's.

Jake Wilson, a spokesperson for the Mall of Louisiana, says the new mall hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. He says a new provision in the governor’s executive order allows the mall to reopen.

Stores inside and outside the mall will be adhering to Phase One guidelines.

Wilson says all stores will operate at 25% occupancy, all employees will be required to wear face masks, and all customers are encouraged to wear face coverings.

Security guards will be handing out face masks to customers who need them.

Wilson says every store is allowed to reopen but the timeframe will vary from store to store.

I remember still going to the movies at Bon Marche in the mid 90s when I was in high school. I didn't realize they still had stores open as late as 2000 though. So at one time BR had 3 malls open, although there wasn't much left in Bon Marche towards the end.

quote:

The DH Holmes was replaced by Dillards in 1989 with that chain’s buyout of Holmes; the second floor of the Dillards store was closed in 1990 and the store became a clearance outlet, finally shuttering for good on February 25, 1999. Woolworth closed in 1995. Piccadilly’s had already moved to a freestanding location further down Florida before then. The UA Theatre (Bon Marche 15) also closed in 1999. Wards, the last major tenant to close, lasted until 2000 when the entire chain folded.

That's wild, fallguy_1978. I don't remember Bon Marche Mall hanging-on until 2000 either, but I suppose it did. The last flick I saw there was Burt Reynolds' "Cop and a 1/2," released in 1993. The last time I visited that mall I recall there being a massive sports cards and collectibles show where I parted with a good amount of cash.
