Meh, it would require some expenditure cutbacks, which the analysis done by economics professor Dr. Richardson of LSU already showed. The cutbacks would be mainly in DPW, police and fire departments.

He was contracted with by the BR Chamber of Commerce and the Baton Rouge Area Foundation last year to do an economic analysis of the BR area if SG incorporates.

Why would the mall want to annex? Does it really matter to them?
I've already answered that above in a previous post.

And STG is done if 50% of their revenues are dried up from one property incorporating.

yes: port arthur, mobile, greenville & exeter.

If you believe an irrational SG supporter who posts on the Poli Board, the SG residents will gladly raise property taxes on themselves if it means they can get out from under the EBR school system.

To make up for the loss of sales tax revenues, property tax collections will have to more than triple. Imagine paying $2,000/year now in property taxes and then be told your new property tax amount will be $6,000, especially if you don't have school age kids.

Senator Bodi White is the epitome of the "good old boy" system.

Everyone wishing for a white utopia should just move to Iowa. Prejudice is a sign of stupidity. Keep it to yourself.

Where did this come from? Seems completely out of the blue. Who is wishing for a "white utopia"?

On a related note, I read a while back that Celtic is against St. George because (and I'm paraphrasing here), people know where Baton Rouge is, so when they are trying to attract these big movies, they say "we are located in Baton Rouge, the state capital of Louisiana" and it gives them credibility. Not the same if they say "we are located in St. George, Louisiana."

I could see the MOL and the BR general wanting to annex for similar reasons.

What is the total number on what you're quoting. You say this alot based on speculation, comparing bossier, central, and God knows where else. Is there a real number you're shooting at or simply employing shock and awe.

I've not heard one bit of information about EBR attempting to have a parish-wide fire department.

Well if you haven't heard one thing then you're not in the know as much as you think. Let's just say it's been in talks and in the counsel for years now. Will be entire Parish outside city. Not being a smart a** just saying it's in the works and very close to being a reality. Not a link cause not in news yet but just like I called the mall casino LSU coming into the city you can quote me on this.

PS Hi Russian.

The metro council and Better Together only want to annex the money makers. They don't care about the citizens of the unincorporated areas. At a forum I asked Better Together if they would be in favor of annexing all of the unincorporated area into the city of Baton Rouge. Their answer was "I don't know"; "we haven't thought about that before". That was their way of dodging the question. The real answer is no because the city of Baton Rouge doesn't want to provide fire/police protection to the unincorporated areas.

You do realize it's good olé boys in St George too right? Those good olé boys want the money to stay in their own pockets. It's the system we live in today and for you to think that St George is somehow different is just wrong.

Continuing to live in an area where crime is out of control compared to cities of comparable size and little is being done to address it is just as stupid.
