quote:

The "evil and selfish" Minneapolis man who threw a child over a third-floor railing at the Mall of America was sentenced to 19 years in prison on Monday.

Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, 24, looked straight ahead or down throughout most of the short sentencing hearing and declined to address the court when Hennepin County District Judge Jeannice Reding offered him that opportunity.

Seems like a light sentence in my opinion.

Should've gotten death. His sentence shouldn't be dependent on him being lucky and the kid surviving.

He tried to kill the kid. Punish him as if he died.

Things are not looking good for what Robbie Keene. I'm sure this case will be used as precedence.

Almost killing a white kid?

Half the gen pop is in for that

His intent was to kill.
So, the kid pulls through.
The ironic thing is that because the kid lives, the shithead gets a lighter sentence.
IMO, attempted murder should get same punishment as murder.

With good behavior and time already served in jail, Aranda is eligible for parole in 12 years.

Cool, maybe he'll go to the kid's high school graduation.

What a joke.

Every inmate knows what he did before he even steps foot in the prison.

You know who has a big presence in prisons and doesn't take kindly to hurting innocent white children?

Yeah he shouldn't get a lighter sentence just because he failed to kill him.

The act is the same. The result should be independent of that.

If prisoners really gave a shite about stuff like that, they wouldn't be prisoners in the first place. No one is going to care that he threw a little kid off of a balcony

They should throw him over the same railing, if he dies, he dies.

Should be dead already. Should have been shot upon leaving the courtroom.

Not to get too philosophical, but he did "kill" a big part of that kid. He took his innocence, his trust in others and his injuries and the countless surgeries and rehab visits have, no doubt robbed that kid of the enjoyment and wonders of being a child.

That guy absolutely intended to end a life -- I agree he should be punished as though he did.

There's at least some sort of code actually. Murder/rob/etc. an adult, and you'll be fine.

Molest or harm a child? It is not good for you.

They most certainly do police their own in a sense. They don't take kindly to people who hurt children.
