If you're an airline captain, would you fly your jet full of people directly over a fricking country in the middle of a war where several aircraft have been shot down recently? WTF?

If I were a gambling man I would wager that the Ruskies shot down that plane. This wouldn't be the first time they have shot down an Asian airliner. Remember the Korean airliner they shot down in the 80s?

Probably something along the lines of an airliner impacting the ground, nose down at 300 kts.
Looks like the MH17 aircraft broke up into pieces and those large chunks, with passengers still strapped in, pancaked into the ground. So the bodies are intact, not the meatgrinder like the PSA aircraft in San Diego
