Why go? Why are you switching careers to go to a complete dump.
What good is money if you are in that place

Have you seen the state of Lafayette recently? Price of living is starting to soar, jobs still pay shite in my field here, and I got offered twice my pay to live outside of nola and have the same price of living.

Plus I can get pels season tickets and enjoy sports from time to time. I'm down with that.

How much do you want to pay in rent? Do you enjoy having the freedom to walk to a neighborhood pub or restaurant? Uptown/garden dist is great if this is the case but rent is high. Old Metairie has some nice neighborhood pubs as well and you don’t have to deal with the Orleans parish BS that alot on here complain about.

Contact a realtor to help you find a place to rent. You’ll only get a bunch of fear mongering responses on here.

Max is 1500. My lady is moving with me as well, but I'll use the advice for getting a realtor to help out. I appreciate it!

First of all, never refer to Elmwood as NOLA.

Best places to look with minimal commute would be Harahan & River Ridge (From John Curtis Elementary to the East for the most part is good), and Old Metairie.

If you are looking to rent, but don't want the apartment life and have FB, check out the River Ridge & Harahan pages. People will randomly post about upcoming rentals. I do not know anything about the apartments in these areas, so cannot give too much advice

If you are looking to buy, Old Metairie is always a go to location to look. As someone else said Harahan & River Ridge houses don't last long on the market; but there are some gems especially if you do not mind some renovations.

There are some nice areas in the Arline Park & Jefferson (City) areas/finds; but I would need to defer to others on the board for that.

To fit in, you will need to end your sentences with a preposition, namely the word at.

You will also need to Yat up your vocabulary like instead of the word bedroom, you replace it with bed-rum.

Also, don't forget to end nouns with an A and the word brah. Like Kenna brah or Metrey brah.

Basically just frog up your voice like a fat Billy Nungesser and you'll fit right in with those WAP wannabees. Good luck brah.

Lakeview

Why would anyone live in Lakeview? None of the benefits of living in the city with ALL of the negatives of living in the city. Plus the car break-in's are crazy right now, and show no sign of slowing down.

Orleans. Carrollton, uptown, or Mid City. Take Earhart, Airline, or River Road to Elmwood

Browse a site like Zillow. Notice how many homes are for sale. Tons.

Now, search Bucktown, OM, Old Jefferson, Harahan, River Ridge. Ain’t much. Houses are selling before they hit the market

Both of us are in our mid 30s. 50/50, just depends on the day. Hence why I'd invest in season tickets for pels games as a social event for most of the year.

So if you lived near Harrison Ave you wouldn’t have bars, restaurants, or City Park within an easy walk?

Old Jefferson is a very nice little pocket that would be very close to your work and accessible to “nola.” If you are single and want more of a single scene I would go further down river and look for something in the Carrollton/black pearl area. Once you are down river of Audubon park your commute will become a real pain.

If you have kids and want a decent school system and affordable (all relative) home with a yard and minimal crime marrero really is a nice family area.

the area between Canal and the park, in 2 blocks either way off of Harrison may be worth it. If you live off Fleur de Lis, or Robert E Lee, you would be better off in Metairie IMO

Been near Mid-city for about a month now. Coming from Houston, everything seems close, probably 10-15 minutes for you to get to the work area I'd guess
