I had surgery today to re-attach bicep tendon back to my forearm.

My doctor prescribed three drugs for me to take after the surgery.

One is an antibiotic, one is a 10mg hydrocodone (one every four hours), and the other is something called Tramadol (one every four hours).

I have a 5 day supply of the hydro.

I took all three when I got home, and again about 5 hours later.

I have 120 doses of Tramadol, so I wondered what it was and looked it up. It is an opioid as well, so it got me thinking why am I taking two pain killers and why I have 120 of them. Then I noticed that the prescribing doctor's name on my Tramadol is incorrect, but my name is correct.

I start calling around, trying to get hold of my surgeon, but the best I can do is get hold of a doctor on call.

He was very concerned about the bottle as well and do not take anymore. Plus he said 120 seems not right.

Now I'm waiting for tomorrow to talk to the surgeon and pharmacy.

Tramadol isnt an opiate like oxy or hydrocodone

Pill poppers dont like tramadol. Doesnt do anything for them,

In ER i would prescribe tramadol and they would whine like little bitches.

Kind of. It’s a really crappy substitute for opioids to be honest that can cause seizures in higher doses. They gave you those because nobody likes to hand out the real stuff anymore. Honestly they probably won’t even do you any good.

Dude, just go to sleep already. You had surgery today, how are you still awake?

Surgery was at 7am, general anesthesia, got home before 10am, I still haven't sleep yet. Plus zero pain because of the 4-day nerve block on the arm

The doctors name is incorrect as in it is a different md or spelled wrong or something? I have seen these prescribed together at times. As others have said Tramadol is not a heavy hitter

When I was prescribed tramadol for lower back pain I had 120 pills per month.

They sucked and gave me bad headaches so I stopped taking them. Aleve did more for the pain than the tramadol

Different doctor, but name is close. My doctor is Scott Petrie and the name on the bottle is Scott Pecue. Most likely just a misspelling or wrong click on md list on computer.

Then he probably prescribed both. Just take the hydrocodone primarily and supplement with the tramadol if needed. If he only gave you 5 days worth then the tramadol is probably there for when you run out

It is a synthetic opioid, it can be addictive, but is abused less than regular opiates, those abusing Tramadol are usually already addicted to other opiates.

Zero pain? I’m guessing the meds are as needed for pain. So basically you take the hydrocodone in the beginning then wean to the tramadol after a few days. If you have zero pain, you’re not doing it right. Save it for 3-4 days from now.

Yes

Doesn't even really help with pain, in my opinion, when I took them 20 years ago.

Still stupid that they are scheduled

So, doing the math, you got 20 10mg tablets of hydrocodone for post surgical pain and discomfort. Not at all unusual. 120 refillable prescription for tramadol in conjunction with the hydrocodone is unusual. I already don’t like your doctor, or his/her nurse, or the pharmacy. Hope you survive.

The last time I got pain meds was after a throat surgery. I had a nodule removed from my vocal chords. They gave me liquid hydrocodone. That stuff messed me up for 3-4 days

Take a swig and in 5 min it was just sit around and try to keep from laughing at things going on around you.

Save your real pain pills for when you or the doctor takes this out.
I promise you that the Hydros are unnecessary with a nerve block.
2x nerve block recipient and I just thought I was in pain, then the pump ran out and I was crying like a lil bitch

Petrie is creepy. It’s why Chad Loup got away from him.
