Kind of. It’s a really crappy substitute for opioids to be honest that can cause seizures in higher doses. They gave you those because nobody likes to hand out the real stuff anymore. Honestly they probably won’t even do you any good.

It's amazing how well the other pain management interventions can work if we give them the chance. I was given hydrocodone after cutting myself accidentally, never took one either.

Clearly there’s a line where some strong pain meds are needed, even opiates, but some stuff is just going to hurt for a little while. To be honest I’m pretty afraid of opiates, and would rather not take them unless it’s absolutely necessary. I’ve watched family members really go off the rails, and honestly I’d rather just deal with some pain for a week or so.

Save your real pain pills for when you or the doctor takes this out. I promise you that the Hydros are unnecessary with a nerve block. 2x nerve block recipient and I just thought I was in pain, then the pump ran out and I was crying like a lil bitch
This 100%. Once the nerve blocker is removed is when the real party starts.

Still stupid that they are scheduled
I was prescribed this for my back by my PCP years ago. She said since it’s not a narcotic i could take it and still go to work at the hospital.
I know for some...this drug didn’t do anything for them. For me..,,it took my pain away and basically made me high. I felt like I had just taken Percocet or some other narcotic. Got that itchiness all over you get with pain meds. Felt really good (euphoric)and energized when I took the med as well. There was no way I could take this med and safely care for others at work. (I never took it while at work fwiw).
So yeah....I could see the potential for abuse with this med. Add the fact that taking too much can cause seizures...yeah the med should be more controlled.

Surgery was at 7am, general anesthesia, got home before 10am, I still haven't sleep yet. Plus zero pain because of the 4-day nerve block on the arm
I just had the exact same surgery about 3 weeks ago. My bicep tendon completely detached and only held on by a few silver skin fibers.
They did my block wrong and my shoulder, neck, and 1/2 my face was numb and my arm hurt like a mutherfricker.

Tramadol is da bomb, and it gives me an entergeric feeling, where hydrocodone might make me groggy, and same euphoria. I've heard some people say they prefer tramadol over anything else.
You can buy it over-the-counter in Mexico. I read a story about 1-800-pet meds selling it, you would just have to talk to one of their on line vets and say a story about your dog in pain.

Tramadol sucks. Not sure what you're worried about, but you won't get hooked on it, unless you're from Alabama or just like stuff that sucks.

Do you even google bro

Real question: why can't they just block the nerves for the duration of the healing and never prescribe opiates at all?

Again...do some research on the med. There is a percentage of people that their body responds to this medication just like they would to a narcotic.
So different people can have very different responses to the medication. You can take it and it does nothing for your pain. Another person can take it and it takes their pain away and makes them high.

I'd imagine it's people getting high on tramadol is pretty rare, since I never hear about people abusing it. It is prescribed specifically because of that. Otherwise, there is no reason for it to exist.

120 doses of tramadol! You almost got hooked on drugs!

Tramadol is the mikes hard lemonade of the pain killer world

This is one very simple reality that many don't understand. You can't generalize your individual experience with it to every. This is exactly why some people become addicted and others don't.
