CBC

Highways connecting the Lower Mainland to the rest of B.C. have faced flooding, landslides and in some cases, complete washouts since a historic storm hit the province Nov. 13.

Many people who were left stranded when travel between the Lower Mainland and the rest of the province was cut off chose to head south into Washington state and back into Canada to get home.

At least 200 sites on highways in the Lower Mainland and Interior were affected, according to the province. However, the state of highways in B.C. remains ever changing amid further heavy rainfall and as routes are reopened following cleanup.

Wonder what the guy on Hwy Through Hell will do for work now. He is always dramatically keeping the Coquihalla open.

Looks similar to what recently happened to a highway in southern MS, killing and injuring several people.

Not the majority of highways but some critical ones. Its a mess. Cousin lives in east BC, away from rain. They have gone from historic drought, major fire season now biblical flooding.

As horrible as the situation is, BC sure does have some absolutely gorgeous natural scenery.

Sounds like the Coquihalla may not be reopened for several years due the extensive damage. Sad for many of those families who are trapped out there.

It has been really, really bad in that area. Entire towns had to be evacuated, legit shortages of everything because all roads were either closed or destroyed, the main internet cable was cut to a large area, people who happened to be traveling were stranded.

Damn white people and their statues. All you bastards and your hydrocarbons, we should be driving Teslas and be wind and solar only.

Hopefully, next week breaks the pattern. Unfortunately, you know what may happen when that pattern breaks.
