What does that mean

That's the weather model (HRRR in this case) showing where it believes the best mesos/rotating updrafts will be. That version of the product shows the entire track of a given meso cyclone/storm.

It is another tool, but not exact, and it doesn't guarantee a tornado.

Honest question.

My wife and 10mth old are heading to Jackson, MS from BR tomorrow morning, planning on leaving around 7:30 or 8. Will they be able to get there before this weather catches them or would she be driving through this on the way? Let’s say goal is to be in Jackson by 10:30-11

Trying determine what to do. We live in an old house on a crawl space. I don't think that's where we want to be during this event, we're in the 5.

Have to find someone that will take us in with dogs and cats. I say we leave the cats at home and take the dogs.

I can't tell anyone else what to do but I'd probably be against it if it were mine as that is pushing it

ETA
I believe that is also in the High Risk area but NWS Jackson has not updated their info as of my post

Here comes the real dust bowl:

Oklahoma Mesonet
@okmesonet

If you think that first wave of dust was bad...you ain't seen nothing yet. Or you won't be seeing nothing when the second wave gets here! This special satellite product shows significant dust (yellow) that's been lofted into the atmosphere.

Personally, I’d stay in Baton Rouge (if you can) because as of now it seems Jackson will get it worse. I think Jackson is in the “high risk” and BR is in “moderate”

Of course both can expect tornadoes, but still, I prefer moderate over high.

I don’t think the tornado producing weather is expected until around 9am, so I guess you can “beat it”/ not drive in it by leaving early for Jackson.

But, again, if possible, I’d stay put just because BR weather isn’t expected to be as severe. I’m am by no means an expert. Just mom type “reasoning”

NWS (says 9am):

didn't see anything wrong with what they types - seems to me that the wording "should be" is pretty on point for tomorrow situation - plus it gets your attention

Every professional acts like the use of 4/27 is taboo. I was surprised they straight up said this IS going to be 4/27. I mean that was a generational event or it was supposed to be. I hope they are wrong.

Man, basketball anxiety and storm anxiety don't mix well. I'm glad the Auburn game is over.

That dust will probably arrive at the same time the pine tree pollen explodes in Alabama. As warm as its been im already seeing a little. Another few days and everything will be coated.
