Straight up sheets of rain out of the south. And I'm not even in the middle of that blob

Spot just above Waveland looks like it has some rotation.

Yeah that ain’t no good. Shouldn’t be too hard to upload. They sell a micro USB stick for phones on Amazon you could send it to and then transfer to a laptop.

It’s been partly cloudy here all day with a few minutes of sun and mild wind. Been “looking” like it’s going to rain for the past 2 hours and 73 degrees out.
There is a small cell of rain just south of me currently.

I’m in the “Enhanced” orange zone FYI
Wait, I’m hearing rain on my screened in porch now…here comes some wind picking up too.

Forgive me if this is an utterly stupid question, but since it seems that most of the bad stuff has missed us, would we be safe to drive 459N from hueytown back to vestavia in about 30 minutes?

New tornado warning for parts of Morengo, Hale and Perry counties in central Alabama.

The atmosphere in this area hasn’t been used up today as areas further north were. Still come potential for parts of central and south Alabama.

As long as it stays right on the other side of 60, which as of now it's forecast to, we should be ok. Still strong storms, but hopefully nothing tornadic. If it gets closer to 65, watch out.

Be safe, brother.

Sounds like something we should be happy about. It also demonstrates how hard these things are to forecast. There have still been a lot of tornadoes today between Mississippi and Alabama.

So can i tentatively scratch putting my toddlers to bed in the basement in metro ATL yet?

We're in north Gwinnett and still plan on staying in the basement with our two (1 & 3).

It may be overly cautious but easier/safer than trying to get them both down two flights of stairs at 2am if something does pop up.

It'll be a nasty trip, but you'll probably be okay as far as major storms/tornadoes go. Just have a way on your phone to get a warning on the way in case something spins up, and watch the idiots out there.
