I'm looking at the radar and it looks like once this line pushes east, there is nothing behind it...so we're all good by tonight, right?

As an electrical guy I'm disappointed generator #2 is down for maintenance so they can't utilize the output.

This car was almost completely underwater yesterday (I 49, Desoto Parish):

My friend had to bail out of this truck (and the water was deeper when he bailed). The water rose very quickly. Water was about door handle deep, maybe a little deeper when he got out. I 49 at 175, Desoto Parish

What is so crazy is that you're going to have places like around Lake Charles who will deal with flooding issues despite being spared from most of the rain. There will be quite a few river gauges at major flood levels and many that are going to break their all-time records.

I saw the same thing and thought, "damn, what a bad time for maintenance".

Did your friend just drive into door-handle deep water on purpose before he had to bail out? Or did he hydroplane into that predicament?

That's exactly what I'm seeing too. But these guys are acting like Noah's sailing in on his ark.

This penis-shaped map says otherwise. These are the projected rainfall totals from 6AM Friday morning to 6AM Saturday morning.

This is forecast takes you through 2AM EST on Friday. As you can see, the rain is supposed to pick back up again pretty severely on Friday.

Looking at the LIX radar, looks like a train is rolling out of the Gulf right at Baton Rouge. If the intensity of the rain out of the Gulf holds, the rain totals here could pick up pretty rapdily.

Nope. The low driving all the moisture out of the Gulf isn't moving very quickly. So where SE LA is will catch little disturbances going around the low.

It's not like your typical cold front that has a low racing off to the NE and a trailing squall line. Should see multiple rounds of rain before this system finally moves on out.

Yes, this started happening yesterday and there are a handful of houses out there that sit a little low to Wallace Lake that could end up with some water in them. I know of three that are attempting sandbagging this morning.

He got off on the exit to turn around and go back to Shreveport. The car in front of him made it through so he went on. Then, he said "the water started rising." So, he opted to try to go straight through (and the truck is on the ramp where it is going up). He said "the water rose in about 20 seconds and the truck died." He forced the door open and waded out in armpit deep water.

He went over to the Relay Station, cold and soaking wet, but it was locked and closed. But, they had truckers staying there so they opened it up for him and let him dry his clothes.

His story, not mine

Nighttime it appears, which is a pretty bold/stupid move given the conditions around your area.

I really don't know what you should do, but good luck.
