Things that have sold (or will sell because of bids on eBay) so far:
Pair of bike shoes $150
Rods/reels & helmets $300
Binoculars $70
Four knives $136
Pedals $146
Camera $80
BB gun $47
Torque wrench (bid) $63
Bicycle shoes (bid) $51
Mahjong $30

(From other garage sales)
LEGO car $30
LEGO police station $100
Thomas the train $240
Ghostbusters $100

Things that haven’t sold yet:
Pachinko machine
Fender speakers
Motorcycle jacket
Gerber knife

$1543 off of ~ $145 spent (spent a few more dollars, but that was on stuff I’m keeping, tools, candles, etc)

Anyone hit the sales yesterday? I had to work, so no sales for me.
I did buy a large Griswold collection this week. I didn’t get them cheap. I’m planning on keeping one and selling the rest, making enough to get mine for free.

this must include the ka-bar. No way the Kershaw knives alone brought in this much

that's it? Did you sell the lens too?

Yes, that included the ka bar (which went for $66). The Kershaws went for $70.

I sold the camera with the lens “as-is”, because I didn’t have a Nikon charger, and didn’t feel like messing with it.

I’ve found a few bargains myself and follow the same rule. OLD higher end neighborhoods. I have good luck in the old money areas of Mobile, Fairhope, Orange Beach etc. LOTS of fishing stuff at these but I don’t know enough about what Im doing to buy anything other than the obvious giveaway. I figure if I spend $5-10 on a rod and reel and somethings bad wrong with it I’ll just pitch it. I had $5 worth of fun looking for it and buying it.

Best pick I’ve gotten is an old school clam shell style brown and tan tackle box with probably 30 old crankbaits in it. I think some older ones of those go for big $ (to me) but don’t know how to identify them. Had a bunch of leaders, pliers, and all sorts of other tackle in the bottom. Hell I haven’t even taken it all out of the box and I bought it 5 years ago. I fish ultralight spinning reels so none of it has any use to me. I just saw it for $30 and bought it.

Bought a big box of large hand wrenches at my last one. I mean like 1.5” is the smallest ones. Gave like $25 for them. Probably 20 plus big wrenches and tools in it. Stuck it in the corner of the garage. I am a hoarder. The state sale when I die will be epic.

Email inbound to you. Please keep posting these threads. Ignore the haters. They’d bitch about tips on how to pickup free money.

Seriously. I was enjoying this thread initially but it's just become the OP selling his shite here, which is usually not allowed.

Not even entirely the OP's fault.

This..if I may add:

Not really big on the OP knowing he's buying something for 5.00 that he KNOWS is worth 500.00.

Seems like bragging that hes getting over on people.

Everyone brags about what they find at garage sales. I don’t care if you stop one time or go to garage sales all the time, you will brag about the $1 item you find that you know it’s worth $50. If people mark everything they have at garage sales for what the item is worth, there would be no garage sales, because no one would shop them. I’ve been to many garage sales where people have the stuff priced with eBay prices. Well guess what, no one is buying the stuff because it’s over priced. Garage sales are to get rid of your junk. Rich people have garage sales for this reason, to get rid of junk, and the mark it cheap to get rid of it.

I have never listed anything here with the intent to sell it here. I’ve actually only sold two things here on TD in all my garage sale threads, and they were both in this thread. I sold them because they contacted me.

Quit reading THIS thread of it bothers you.

I guess you can't figure how to talk about how great Boston is in a thread about garage sales?

OR he's basically talking about a sliver of his life that nearly everyone can relate to...I would imagine nearly 100% of the folks here have had a garage sale or been to one.

Quit reading the thread if it is a bother.

Meh, it’s more of a brag on his successful purchases to profits. I like to poke fun at him in the threads when he values things before they’re sold as if that’s the exact profit he’s going to make, but that’s just to ruffle his feathers a little.

I do like seeing the 80s and 90s things he finds.

Fair enough...I may have misread the cast iron train thread, but I came away feeling like you were bragging that you got something worth 500 for 5 bucks. I posted at the time that if you knew what it was worth, then why not offer a few bucks more. Thats just my .02, but I'll keep it out of your Threads moving forward.

Rick people "getting rid of their junk" aren't the only people having garage sales....Some people are have them out of necessity.

I don’t go to poor people’s garage sales. I let you in on a little secret, poor people don’t sell good stuff at garage sales. They all have trash, or if they have something of value, they want eBay prices for it.

I’m guessing you are talking about Thomas the Train when you say cast iron train. I bought this at a upper middle class neighborhood in BR. They probably had $2000+ tied up just in these toys when they bought them new. They knew the toys were expensive when they sold them.
Unless you are talking about the cast iron train light pole. I bought that along with an entire Lionel train set for $500 at an estate sale. I can’t help it if the estate sale prices it wrong. Hell, I didn’t know it until I sold it, $$300 for one light pole.
