IVe stopped for multiple accidents and even had to break out a few windows to get people out. I’m not trying to say I’m some great person but if you see a major accident, you shouldn’t even hesitate to stop. It’s not like I’m setting my parking break in the left lane to pull over. Hopefully that poster isn’t anywhere near me if I get in a wreck

So if you saw that wreck, you wouldn’t stop because it would take 500ish feet to safely pull off?

This is all based on it happening right in front of me. If I was the only one on the road or traffic was very light, yes I would stop. If it was mid day heavy traffic, no I would not stop. I would call 911 to report the accident, give them my info so LSP can contact me about what I saw.

Making a pile up or multi car / victim accident out of a single car accident doesn't make sense.

Traffic will quickly slow down and eventually stop near the accident. There will be plenty of people there to help safely. If I am one of those I will help. Otherwise, I am not part of the solution, I am another potential problem waiting to happen.

That is part of what makes the interstate a fairly safe way to travel (road wise). Due to the high speeds, accidents generally go off to one side or the other and traffic in the immediate area of the accident is able to continue on. Naturally traffic begins to slow due to the accident and people can stop and help. If we all slammed on our brakes and stopped when an accident occurred, we would only make the situation worse.

Guardrail cut through the vehicle??? I would imagine that would take some speed to let that happen?

We have to have some first responders on here. I would love to hear their take on this stop or don't stop thing and when to stop and when to not stop.

I got caught in that. Was passing it after they got the top off the car and saw her hair. I honestly think I saw her moving and they were getting her out of the car. Brownish hair. Gray Camry. I kept looking for another car but I guess she was the only one involved. Hope she makes it. Car looked horrible and the guardrail was very mangled and intertwined with her front end.

I think that's where a lot of people are merging on from bluebonnet, but the extra lane is ending. Maybe she was getting over at a fast rate of speed and then...realized she couldn't? No clue how that happened.

These guard rails were originally designed to peel back so the rail would not go through the car. At some point 10-20 years ago the manufactors of these rails decided to start skimping on the metal density in an attempt to save themselves some money. They saved money then but many many people have lost their lives bc of it bc these lighter rails do not peel back like they were originally engineered to do and the rails go through the cars. There have been many lawsuits but the fact of the matter is they do not know how many rails were improperly made so this will continue to happen for sometime until the shoddy rails are all eventually replaced. Prayers to the family

I'm at the hospital with the family. She's got a lot ahead of her but she's going to come out well. It's a miracle, really. Head, neck and spine ok. And she should keep her legs.

She conscious? If so, any recollection? I know I saw her moving when they were starting to extract her. She was moving her arms and head.

I've heard about that. Surprised they haven't been sued into oblivion, and a bunch been replaced

Sadly, this happens WAY too often... It's been a big deal around the country and especially Atlanta recently (2014):

I drove by there tonight with my three teens and got chills imagining . I'm not going to lie, I was feeling kind of emotional thinking about a teen going through that. Thank God she's going to make it.
