I was ok with the snow. This much sleet is a problem. All our power lines are underground, thankfully but that’s definitely not true for most.

Seriously, I would stay out of DFW until Saturday evening or Sunday. The Houston location was a good suggestion.

ETA Schools are already canceled for tomorrow.

Alrighty... this is the first time I'm seriously doing this in a weather thread.

Heading to a cabin in North Georgia on Tues the 14th.

How screwed am I?

Looks like I'll be getting there on the tail end of this storm. Worried about Ice on road getting to cabin and having power.

ETA: my real question is how well does north georgia handle these kinds of events?

Isn't it going to be mid forties on Tuesday in that area?

Yeah, I know it’s nothing to anyone up north but that dusting is fricking up my life for the next 48 hours. We have the cab of an 18 wheeler hanging off a highway right now.

I truly hope everyone stays safe. I'm sure there are knuckleheads all over the place driving like it's raining. Four wheel drive helps keep you going, but doesn't help you stop.

You'll be fine. Anything we get should be melted and a memory by Sunday afternoon.

Even if the area loses power it should be restored by the time you get there, unless it is A) way off the beaten path, B) a piece of equipment damaged that has to be brought in from well outside the area, or C) an issue where the service connects to the house and the owner would end up being responsible for the repair.

It’s just that nearly all our highways are elevated and none of them are treated. There’s a nice layer of ice under that dusting. Add to that no one here knows how to drive in this and it’s a total disaster on our highways today and tomorrow.
