Looking at DFW, I see at least 15 AA planes waiting for a gate, 20 trying to de-ice or in line for that. Poor people are going to sit on the deicing pad and then the flight is going to cancel and they won't be able to get back to a gate. Yuck
DFW doesn’t have enough de-icing capacity during these storms. I expect a lot of missed connections and flights being cancelled.

If it stopped right now, there would be more snow on the ground than I’ve ever seen before here. It’s not supposed to stop until tomorrow morning. This whole town is going to be a shite show until Sunday.
makes you wonder if they are going to be able to play the Cotton Bowl tmrw night at Jerry's World

It looks like maybe 9 planes worth of deicing pads on the south east corner of the airport and 7 on the south west corner. Definitely not enough today. The planes are stacked up on the taxiway from that far east runway out in the middle of nowhere waiting for a gate, I count 11 currently. The ones on the driving pad are close to timing out at 3 hours already...
Anyone have any good webcams or links to pics of the Dallas snow?

I just saw that there is a ground stop at the airport…

They will play it. Just don’t know if fans will all make it.

Have family going to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine Saturday. Good idea or no?
Posted on 1/9/25 at 11:46 am to jorconalx
It won’t get above freezing until after 12:00 on Saturday.

Now we have heavy snow, ice and rain falling at the same time. What is going on? That’s just going to jack up the roads even more.
Posted on 1/9/25 at 11:52 am to LSUGrrrl
That's why I wait until people drive on them for a few hours so the snow is cleared. I hope the city salted the roads
finna find out

There will be some sand down on elevated areas of the tollway.
Holy hell, it’s pouring sleet right now.

Last time, they put sand down on all the elevated areas and it was actually ok. Until you got to where the tollway went under 121. They didn’t put anything there and all the snow/ice pooled there like in a bowl then froze over. Hit that and cars started spinning all over.

I have driven in many snow and ice storms for work over the years, as well as living in Milwaukee for a year - the wife is from CO and can handle it, but we have seen 1st hand the idiocy of Bham drivers
Around ATL, the natives simply don't drive in those conditions because we know we don't have the plows and salt and sand trucks that Milwaukee et al. have. It's the yankee transplants that go out on the roads arrogantly without realizing the above fun fact, and end up sliding off the road.

Yeah, that was at 10:30 when it was all snow. Now it’s pouring sleet and snow at the same time. That’s really going to frick things up.

Have them divert to Houston and go to the new one in Webster/League City that just opened last fall.

And it’s
Supposed to sleet for a few hours. The traffic will be just awful by then. Hopefully the ice won’t cause to many power outages.
